Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyllllantysiliogogogoch
This is the unofficial name of a village in Wales, on the island of Anglesey, near the Menai Strait, in Welsh. It translates as "St. Mary's Church (Llanfair) in the hollow (pwll) of the white hazel (gwyngyll) by the (goger) raging whirlpool (y chwyrndrobwll) and St. Tisilio's Church (llantysilio), next to the red cave ([a]g ogo goch)".
It is officially called Llanwyr Pullgwynhill.
English has not always been the only language of England
In the history of Great Britain, English was not the predominant language for some time. Between 1066 and 1362, William the Conqueror established French as the official language. Fortunately, English has since been restored, making the UK an ideal place to learn a foreign language these days.
British love for curry
There are more Indian restaurants in London than in Delhi or Mumbai, which is undoubtedly a testament to the British love of Indian food. Uniquely, the popular Indian dish Chicken Tikka Masala is also considered a British national dish.
"Non-parliamentary language"
The British Parliament has a list of words that are strictly forbidden to use. Along with swear words, this list includes such funny and even affectionate terms as "bully", "snitch", "yabba", "wart". Thus, if you ever become a member of the British Parliament, it is recommended that you refrain from calling your colleagues "warts."
Agent 007 was inspired by a bus route
James Bond's iconic code name was inspired by a bus route that ran near Ian Fleming's house. More precisely, the 007 bus, traveling from Canterbury on the Kent coast, played a significant role in capturing Fleming's creative imagination. It makes you wonder what the movies would have been like if Bond had traveled by ordinary buses instead of luxury cars.
