Bobby Laurie used to work as a flight attendant and now hosts a travel show called The Jet Set. According to him, there are several proven and safe ways to save money on airfare. SSPDaily learned more abou this trick.
Among his top tips are flights with stopovers and one-way bookings, the Daily Mail reports.
Use anonymous browsing mode or private browsing mode when buying a ticket
Online merchants, including airlines and travel agencies, use cookies to track your browsing history and behavior. This means that they can be sneaky and raise airfare prices the closer you get to booking. However, there are some tricks to prevent this from happening.
"When you use anonymous browsing mode or private browsing mode, these algorithms cannot access your browsing history and therefore cannot influence the prices you see," explains the flight attendant.
Book one-way flights if possible
One-way tickets can sometimes be cheaper than round-trip tickets, but it really depends on the airline, route, time of booking, and demand.
Book a connecting flight
Flights with stopovers are often cheaper than direct flights because they are not as popular. But it is important to consider whether you are ready for a long flight.
Buy tickets right at the airport if you're flying with a low-cost airline
"Some ultra-low-cost carriers charge an 'interface fee' every time a ticket is purchased online through a travel agency or their website," says the flight attendant.
Therefore, if you are willing to take the risk, you can save money by buying tickets just before boarding.
