Reunited after 13 years: a woman saw a video on TikTok with a homeless man and recognized her brother

The power of social media has reunited a homeless man with his family in Mexico after 13 years.

The heartwarming moment went viral on TikTok when 54-year-old Jorge Pineda embraced his sister Beatriz outside an abandoned house in the northeastern city of Monterrey, where he had taken shelter.

The reunion occurred thanks to blogger Andre Hernandez, who posted a video on April 5 of a barefoot man admiring his Ford Mustang.

Jorge expressed genuine admiration for the sports car, and Hernandez took him for a ride. The video of their outing went viral, leading to Jorge's family recognizing him and reaching out to reconnect.

Hernandez told Info 7 that a colleague warned him about a homeless man near his car and suggested finding another parking spot.

However, the blogger chose to leave his car there and later approached Pineda, taking him for a drive around the city.

Hernandez's followers were moved by the video and donated funds to help Pineda purchase food, a new mattress, and undergo a complete transformation, which the man initially resisted.

The viral content eventually caught Beatriz's attention, prompting her to contact Hernandez after spotting her brother, whom she last saw in 2011.

Beatriz managed to gather the funds and made the 11-hour journey from her home in Ameca, a city in the western state of Jalisco, to Monterrey to reunite with Jorge.

According to Beatriz, Jorge had lived in the United States for a while before drug problems led to his deportation to Mexico. He found employment at a chocolate factory in Reno, Jalisco, but was then involved in an accident that resulted in him being separated from his family.

"I saw the video, and I burst into tears," Beatriz said, as quoted by Infobae.

Since then, Jorge has moved back in with his sister in Ameca and is hopeful for new opportunities.
