A 100-year-old woman from Oklahoma, USA, celebrated her 25th birthday because she was born on a leap day, February 29, 1924. SSPDaily learned more about her special day.
This is showed in the video by ABC News.
Mary Forsythe was recognized by the Oklahoma Longevity Organization, and the city of Sand Springs issued a proclamation commemorating her 100th birthday, but Forsythe celebrated her birthday only on February 29 every four years.
She said the leap years were an excuse to throw birthday parties for several days.
"I always thought I was lucky," she admitted. "It was a lot of fun. We celebrated whenever we wanted to."
Forsythe has two children, five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She celebrated her 25th birthday with a big party at a local church. She had only one rule for her guests: "Please, no gifts. I don't want to keep anything."
