The problem of flight delays is one of the most pressing issues for many airlines. Usually, the reason for this is the human factor.
Eventually, this leads to undesirable consequences, such as delays and changes in flight schedules. This problem is discussed in an article by The New York Times. SSPDaily told more about it.
Recently, one of the leading airlines, United Airlines, decided to take unusual steps to streamline the passenger boarding process. The goal is to save precious time that the airline loses due to the mess when passengers board the plane.
United Airlines seems to have figured out how to seat passengers on the plane faster. The airline has invented an algorithm that is a real life hack in the field of air passenger transportation.
Soon, new rules will be in place on the airline's flights: first, those economy class passengers with window seats will be invited to board the plane. They will be followed by those sitting in the middle. Those who have seats near the aisle will close the boarding line. At the same time, passengers traveling with their families will not be separated: they will board the plane together.
According to United Airlines' management, the new scheme can reduce passenger boarding time by 2 minutes. The calculation here is quite simple, because people will wait less in the aisle while, for example, someone has to get up from their seat in the middle to let a passenger through to the window and then return.
At first glance, it may seem that saving just 2 minutes on one flight is nothing. But, according to experts, in a few months, if this scheme is used on all flights, so much time can be saved that the airline can add an additional flight to any destination.
