A woman gave birth to two children on February 29 in different leap years
A brother and sister from Brooklyn, USA, who were born on Leap Day four years apart, celebrated their unique birthday together for the first time this year.
SSPDaily tells about it.
Parents Dane and Lindsey had a son, Omri, on February 29, 2016. His younger sister Scout was born exactly four years later, on February 29, 2020.
This year, Omri and Scout turned eight and four years old, respectively, and they are thrilled to have celebrated their birthdays on this day.
"This is the first real birthday celebration we've had together," said mom Lindsay.
According to the parents, the family usually celebrates this once-in-a-lifetime coincidence on different days. "We celebrate our son's birthday on February 28, and our daughter's on March 1," explained Dane.
Lindsay also recalled that the children were not supposed to be born on a leap day.
"It was really a happy accident," she said, noting that both the first and second births were uneventful.
"We always try to make it clear how crazy it was!" she added. "I try to keep explaining to them how special this year is, but it's really hard because they're so young and, to be honest, I don't really understand what a leap year is myself."
"We just tell them that they have a special birthday. They are special, so it's quite appropriate," the father said.
