Leaving the co-pilot to fly the plane, Sararnrakskul rushed to the woman in labor and discovered that she was in active labor.
She soon gave birth to a child. Jakarin said he had never delivered a baby in his 18-year pilot career.
Paramedics were waiting for the plane when it landed in Bangkok. It was confirmed that the mother and child were alive and well.
Sararnrakskul is proud to have been able to help.
"He will be able to tell everyone for the rest of his life that he was born in the air," the pilot said of the newborn boy. "I am so proud to have been able to help bring him into this world."
Sararnrakskul said the crew named the baby "Skye" in honor of his whirlwind and chaotic birth in the sky. The pilot did not say whether he had any medical education.
