Social media has the answers to any question, including how to take care of your teeth, as well as the hidden dangers of toothbrushes.
The Sun writes, "We use this seemingly innocuous object to brush our teeth twice a day, but it turns out it poses a serious threat. The information comes from Dr. Ellie Phillips (@drelliephillip), a dentist and influencer on TikTok.
She calls herself a "preventive dentist who helps treat teeth naturally" and SSPDaily learned more about her tips and facts about oral care with her 211,000 followers.
All the secrets of a toothbrush
In one of her latest videos, she revealed what a toothbrush can hide and the simple trick she uses to keep it clean.
The expert said, "Toothbrushes get very dirty, especially if they are next to the toilet or in places with high humidity, such as bathroom or shower."
"Humidity is the best environment for mold to grow and for harmful bacteria to multiply inside the bristles of a toothbrush."
The dentist continued, "Here's what I want you to do with your toothbrush every day to ensure the best possible oral health."
"The only way to get rid of bacteria living on and inside your toothbrush is to dry it for 24 hours."
Therefore, the doctor recommends placing the brush in a glass or stand and leaving it in the air for the whole day.
She said, "If the bathroom is frequented by strangers or is too humid, take the toothbrush to the bedroom or kitchen and let it dry by the window in the sunlight."
She also advises using different toothbrushes in the morning and evening to let them dry for 24 hours before using them again.
Subscribers loved Dr. Ellie's informative and accessible tips.
One person said, "Good advice! I liked the way you explained it. I usually put my toothbrush in my room, away from the bathroom."
Another commenter wrote, "Makes sense. I try to dry my toothbrush, but now I have to buy another one."
