Drivers told us what annoys them the most about passengers: 10 worst habits of fellow travelers
Sometimes we give strangers a ride in our car. And such a good deed doesn't always end with words of gratitude and handshakes.
The DIA website writes about this: "Passengers are different, and drivers often have to deal with their downright inappropriate behavior." To study the problem, Prestone, a company specializing in the production of fluids for the maintenance and protection of cars, surveyed British motorists about the most harmful habits of fellow travelers.
So, here's what annoys car owners about strangers in their cars.
Smoking came in first place. Almost a third of respondents (29.3%) disapprove of this habit. This is followed by people who like to throw garbage out of the window (17%), and the top three are passengers who prefer to ride exclusively in the back seat (16.7%).
In addition, drivers included people with obvious health problems (8.8%) and passengers who leave garbage in the cabin (6.7%) in the top five most unpleasant habits of fellow passengers.
Here's the full list of bad habits:
- Smoking in the car - 29.3%.
- The habit of throwing garbage out of the window - 17%
- Riding in the back seat - 16.7%.
- Sickness and nausea - 8.8%.
- Garbage in the cabin - 6.2%
- Excessive talkativeness - 5.6%
- Unwillingness to wear a seat belt - 4.7%.
- Advice and instructions on how to drive and where to go - 1.7%
- The habit of putting feet on the dashboard - 1.5%
- Drunk passengers under the influence of drugs - 1.5%.
As part of the study, Prestone also asked drivers what passengers have done in their car at least once.
More than 50% of respondents said it was a request to ride in the back seat, as well as slamming doors, throwing garbage, and switching music without being asked.
In addition, car owners named the categories of passengers that annoy them the most: their own husbands and wives came first, followed by children, and parents.
