A woman who did a boy's homework at school in exchange for not being bullied by other children is in "complete shock" after he offered to buy her a house as a thank you. SSPDaily learned more about it.
This story was reported by the Mirror.
The 29-year-old, who suffers from cerebral palsy, a neurological disorder affecting muscle control and motor skills, shared how her disability made her a target for bullying at school.
When the bullying became severe, one of the popular boys started to defend her, and eventually, he left his notebooks for her, and she understood the arrangement.
She explained: "And so our symbiotic relationship began. The bullying stopped, and I did his homework every day. We never talked about it. This went on for almost three years, and his grades improved. I was just grateful to feel safe at school. We graduated, never spoke again, and I never saw him again."
However, he recently reached out to her on Instagram, sharing how well his life had turned out. He also offered to buy her a house and a car: "At first, I thought it was a scam, but we video chatted, he showed me things, and it turned out to be true."
She added that he had become a successful businessman with millions and now lives abroad: "He said he always remembered me because I helped him achieve what he has now. He said he wanted to thank me because he knows how hard it is to be a person with a disability and a woman, especially in my country."
She also received a phone call from an expensive medical center informing her that the man had paid for three years of physiotherapy for her.
"I still thought it was a joke, so I went there and realized it was true. I've already had my first two sessions, and my body feels much better," she said.
Feeling "shocked and bewildered" by the situation, the woman sought advice from readers on Reddit. Many urged her to accept his offer: "He wants to express his gratitude now," "Remember, for really wealthy people, what seems very generous to us is the equivalent of buying lunch. Enjoy your therapy and may it continue to bring you relief!", "He's a millionaire. Let him buy you a car and a house.", "It's a kind gesture, you should accept it and be grateful, not turn down someone who is trying to be kind."
As a reminder, a woman broke up with her boyfriend after winning a million in the lottery.
