A woman whose photo went viral said it could have saved her life after she earned $24,000 in the week following her release from prison.
SSPDaily tells about it.
Abby Newman gained viral fame for her photo after being arrested for shoplifting and disorderly conduct. The 28-year-old's photo was posted on Instagram under the name "Mugshawtys," which shares women's photos with 755,000 followers, and it went viral.
The woman from Alabama had no idea about it at the time because she was in prison, but when she was released, she saw that she had a huge following on social media and people were tagging her photo.
"I didn't even know about it until I got out of prison and saw that I had followers on all my social media," she said. "Actually, I think it turned out for the best."
Her popularity eventually led to support for her OnlyFans page, and she said she made about $24,000 in the week after her release from prison thanks to all the new followers.
Abby also said that her photo that went viral may have saved her life, as it came at a difficult time.
She recalled: "I was going through a lot at the time. I had just had a miscarriage, and I was not myself. To be honest, going to prison not only helped me financially, but in a way saved my life. I am recovering from heroin addiction. I have been sober for six years and after a miscarriage I went down a dark path of depression. I have PTSD and post-traumatic stress disorder, and I wasn't taking any medication, so I was out of my mind. So, sharing the photo helped me not only pay off my debts and live a more comfortable life, but also helped me get back to myself."
