World's Largest Cheesecake Served at Cream Cheese Festival in N.Y.
An annual Cream Cheese Festival in Lowville, N.Y., achieved a successful Guinness World Record attempt with a 15,008-pound cheesecake.
The Kraft-Heinz plant in Lowville originally set the record in 2013. However, they lost the title when a team from Russia created a 9,347-pound cheesecake in 2017.
Derrick Langdon, quality manager at Kraft-Heinz, shared that his team aimed to break the record at this year’s festival.
"If you’re going to beat it, might as well go big," Langdon stated to WWNY-TV. "We aimed to smash that record and make it almost twice as big. If anyone wants to beat this, they will have to think really big. It was go big."
A Guinness World Records adjudicator confirmed the cheesecake's weight at 15,008 pounds during its unveiling, thus reclaiming the title.
"This is just unbelievable," said Jeremiah Papineau, Chair of the Cream Cheese Festival. "Setting a record in 2013 and winning it again shows our community's unity, which we couldn’t be prouder of."
Festival attendees enjoyed slices of the cheesecake, and any leftovers were donated to local food banks.
