A 55-year-old actress became pregnant by her 24-year-old lover, who admired her on TV in his childhood
Famous Colombian actress Alina Lozano announced that she is pregnant by her husband Jim Velasquez, who is 31 years younger. This was reported by SSPDaily.
The couple tied the knot in September 2023.
Last week, they surprised their followers by sharing the results of a pregnancy test.
However, users were skeptical, believing it was a joke, commenting that "there are no children during menopause."
Recently, Lozano and Velasquez filmed a video to reaffirm the positive test result. Jim, who watched Alina on TV as a child, stated: "We made this video because we were bombarded with comments questioning the authenticity of the pregnancy test."
Lozano interjected, sarcastically agreeing with their followers, joking that they had obtained the test "on the black market during a smuggling operation for positive tests."
The couple then approached the camera and displayed a close-up of the test strip.
"That's enough! Why are we doing this?" the actress expressed, according to the Daily Mail. "We are sharing joyful news with those who love us. Those who don't, don't need to follow us or watch us. I'm tired of this filming. I'm done with it; I don't have to explain my life."
Shortly after, the couple uploaded another video in which Velázquez mentioned that they spent 100 million pesos, equivalent to just over $26,000, on the pregnancy.
Alina elaborated on how she got pregnant despite being in menopause.
"Some people think we're foolish," she stated. "A menopausal woman cannot conceive naturally, but she can with assisted reproductive technologies. When a woman no longer produces eggs, she needs an egg donor. It's a challenging process, but it's feasible, and many women worldwide do it. We've been on this journey for a while."
Lozano revealed that the process was challenging, and she confirmed her pregnancy after her third test.
"I want to inspire all women who wish to conceive at this age," she declared.
Lozano has appeared in over 40 soap operas and TV series in Colombia and was previously married to Cuban actor Michael Mulcahy.
According to Health.com, the likelihood of conceiving at 30 decreases. Most women experience menopause between 45 and 55, although it can occur earlier or later. Postmenopausal women can conceive through in vitro fertilization (IVF) using their own eggs or embryos if previously frozen, or donor eggs. The IVF process involves fertilizing an egg with sperm, followed by embryo transfer to the uterus.
