A woman who looks like Britney Spears has figured out how to make money on it - photos
The dancer turned her incredible resemblance to Britney Spears into a part-time job.
SSPDaily tells about it.
Allegra Duval, 35, travels around the United States and performs as a lookalike.
The woman says that all her life she has been compared to the star, and her friends even called her Britney. Three years ago, she realized her resemblance, learned all the words and dance numbers of the pop star's most popular hits, and started working as a lookalike.
Now she regularly accepts bookings from all over the United States, charging about $3,000 for a one-day performance. She has performed with Nelly, Deadmau5, David Guetta, and Skrillex at nightclubs and festivals.
And although she doesn't even sing, guests love her precise choreography and lightning-fast transitions between 26 handmade costumes.
Alegra's main income is from her performances, which bring in $25,000 a year. But that's supplemented by her social media content, such as sponsored videos, brand collaborations, and TikTok broadcasts. The dancer from Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA, said: "I've been told my whole life that I look like her. I was 10 years old when she released Baby One More Time, and I've been a fan ever since. After my first few performances, I started sewing costumes, created a website and started advertising myself as a Britney impersonator."
Allegra has now traveled to 30 different venues across the country performing her hits. It takes a lot more work than people think: preparing hair and costumes, maintaining a self-tanner, manicures and makeup, and learning choreography.
"I also train for at least an hour a day - dancing is so athletic! I love this job so much - it's my passion - I hope I can do it for the rest of my life!"
Allegra has been studying ballet, tap dancing, jazz and lyrics since she was three years old. The professional dancer has always been a fan of the pop princess, but she never imagined that she would build a career on this resemblance.
For the first time, in 2016, she was asked to dance and lip sync as Britney. She loved it so much that she started doing it more and more and started making copies of the costumes by hand. After performing in her role at Denver Pride 2018, she was first asked to perform as Britney at a birthday party in 2021.
Allegra said that her favorite songs to perform are Work B*tch and Slave 4 U, and she would "love to meet her idol" one day. Now it's a full-time job for her, as well as distributing Britney's paid content on her social media platforms.
Allegra performs about two concerts a month, but prepares for each performance for weeks. She said: "Since I've been dancing professionally for many years, I'm used to watching my diet and fitness - I like to work out, stay fit and eat well. I also like to put on makeup and tan, so it works. The only thing that can be tiring is traveling: I can spend 17 hours on the road for one 15-minute performance."
The former go-go dancer creates a customized setlist based on her client's favorite Britney hits and sometimes changes costumes on stage.
She added: "I even had dreams where I met her. If I met her, I think I would die."
